Friends today I am going to share a piece of information with you. Information regarding How to Configure Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS). Well you might wonder why? Because in recent days somebody (I don't know who is he) come to my office sit on computer for some official work and change my entire very very important project file. This catastrophe happens to me before my presentation day. So I did what I did to create my presentation once again and then I realize I have to do something. Something very important. Then I Configure Volume Shadow Copy Service or VSS and Now I want you to configure this if you have sensitive information because this is really big deal. You could save your valuable data and most important your valuable time. So first of all What is Volume Shadow Copy Service or VSS? Let's look at it....

Volume Shadow Copy Service is a feature of Windows Server operating system that enables you to maintain previous version of files on a server. If you accidentally edit or delete any file (which is configured with VSS) then in this scenario you can access or retrieve your original file.

Volume Shadow Copy Service was first added to Microsoft Windows XP. It can only create temporary snapshots, used for accessing stable on-disk version of files that are opened for editing. This version of Volume Shadow Copy Service is used by NTBackup. But we are here looking Volume Shadow Copy Service of Windows Server 2012.

Microsoft is more focusing on Windows 10. Making a better windows for its customers. But there are still most of the users using Windows 7 operating system regularly updating their Windows 7 SP1 including latest updates, app versions and more. Finally Microsoft released a “Convenience Rollup” for Windows 7 SP1 operating system that combines all updates from past few years into one bundle or package (like a Service Pack). This time Microsoft is not offering ISO image. With a single download, you can install the hundreds of updates at once.

From now, whenever you install a fresh copy of Windows 7 you won’t have to wait for it to download few years updates and multiple reboots. It’ll have everything it needs up through May 2016.

This update package, which combines updates dating all the way back to February 2011, isn’t being made available in Windows Update. If you’re installing a Windows 7 system from scratch, you’ll need to go out of your way to download and install it. If you don’t, Windows Update will download and install the updates one by one–the slower, more tedious way.

Step 1: What you’ll need?

Microsoft’s Convenience Rollup for Windows 7 requires Windows 7 SP1. Install Service Pack 1, If You Don’t Have It Already.

Note: If you are not sure whether you have SP1 or not. Open the Start menu, type “winver” into the search box, and press Enter. If it says “Service Pack 1” in the window, you have Service Pack 1. If it doesn’t, you need to install Service Pack 1.
